Job Description

Essential Job Functions

1. Oversee the conceptualization and development of data center designs, ensuring they align with Oracle's strategic objectives and goals. In most cases this is accomplished by working closely with our colocation providers who have hired the engineer and architect of record to review designs confirming compliance with our internal and external customer requirements.
2. Analyze business requirements and align them with technical capabilities to ensure optimal solutions.
3. Facilitate communication between business stakeholders and technical teams to bridge gaps in understanding.
4. Innovate Design Solutions for Rapid Construction - develop designs that prioritize quick construction methods to enhance efficiency and project timelines.
5. Prepare and deliver clear and compelling presentations to senior management, outlining project progress, technical challenges, and strategic recommendations to support informed decision-making.
6. Lead a team of design professionals in evaluating and approving efficient layouts, specs, and designs for critical facilities.
7. Collaborate with all internal cross-functional teams to ensure integrated planning and execution.
8. Ensure all designs meet Oracle's performance requirements, industry standards and local regulations.
9. Manage the engineering team's overview of all designs from initial proposal through to completion of construction.
10. Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments related to new designs and modifications.
11. Champion green and sustainable design practices within data center projects.
12. Develop and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead the design strategy and development for numerous large concurrent data center projects in the AMER & EMEA regions.
2. Ensure that all designs are cost-effective, innovative, and aligned with future technological advancements.
3. Monitor and analyze industry trends and emerging technologies to integrate into design standards.
4. Prepare and present design documentation and project updates to senior management and stakeholders.
5. Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and support for professional growth.
6. Conduct regular design reviews and quality assessments, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
7. Collaborate with the construction management team to resolve design-related issues during the construction phase.
8. Establish and enforce design project timelines, budgeting processes, and resource allocation.

Minimum Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field.
2. 10+ years of experience in data center design with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior managerial role.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of cross-functional teams such as data center operations, construction methods, and engineering practices.
4. Proven track record of delivering complex data center designs on time and within budget.
5. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in data center design.
6. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
7. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Work from home, remote; open to anywhere in the United States. Will need to travel, typically about 25% but could be more.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $120,100 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
