Senior SQL Server / SSIS Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior SQL Server/SSIS Engineer in Minneapolis, MN.

Summary:
We are seeking a Senior SQL Server/SSIS Engineer to support the transition and stabilization of a mission-critical financial application as ownership moves into the Technology organization. This individual will initially focus on understanding and supporting the existing environment, including complex SQL Server processes, stored procedures, SSIS packages, batch processing and system integrations. The Engineer will perform a deep dive into the current platform, map existing processes, strengthen technical documentation and help establish a clear path forward for ongoing support and improvements. This is an ideal opportunity for a senior, hands-on engineer who is comfortable stepping into an established environment, quickly understanding complex systems and becoming a technical owner.

Key Responsibilities:
* Quickly develop a strong understanding of the existing application, database and integration architecture
* Analyze and document the current state of mission-critical business and technical processes
* Support and troubleshoot complex Microsoft SQL Server stored procedures and SSIS packages
* Maintain and stabilize scheduled batch and ETL processes
* Analyze data transformations involving flat files, database tables and downstream systems
* Map dependencies between SQL processes, applications, integrations and batch jobs
* Build sustainable technical and operational documentation to reduce dependency on tribal knowledge
* Identify risks, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement within the existing environment
* Evaluate existing development, access, deployment and change management processes
* Make improvements while operating within the controls and oversight requirements of a regulated financial environment
* Provide technical leadership while remaining highly hands-on with the platform

REQUIREMENTS:
* Advanced Microsoft SQL Server experience
* Strong SQL development and troubleshooting skills
* Extensive experience with stored procedures
* Strong SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) experience
* ETL and data transformation experience
* Experience troubleshooting complex scheduled/batch processing
* Understanding of virtual machine environments
* Experience working with multiple integration patterns, including: REST APIs; SOAP APIs; SSIS packages; Stored procedures; Linked servers; Batch jobs; Flat files; Application Technology
* Experience with some or all of the following would be valuable: C#; ASP.NET; Microsoft Entity Framework; HTML; CSS; JavaScript; REST/SOAP services

Preferred Experience:
* Financial services or banking experience
* Experience supporting applications in regulated environments
* Experience inheriting or taking ownership of existing/legacy applications
* Strong understanding of technology governance, controls, policies and procedures
* Application stabilization and production-support experience
* Experience reverse-engineering poorly understood systems
* Experience assessing and improving development/change-management processes
* Ability to create clear current-state architecture, process and support documentation

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
