AWS Cloud Security Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Jacksonville, FL that is looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Senior AWS Security Engineer to play a key role in strengthening and evolving the security posture of our cloud environment. This individual will take ownership of designing, implementing, and advancing security controls across a complex AWS ecosystem. This is not a purely operational role. The right candidate will bring a strategic mindset-someone who can proactively identify risks, uncover gaps in security and compliance frameworks, and help align controls with the expectations of highly regulated industries, including financial services.

Key Responsibilities:
* Own and drive enterprise-level security initiatives, influencing architectural decisions across multiple teams and platforms
* Design and implement automated tools and frameworks that support ongoing security validation and continuous monitoring
* Build scalable and secure solutions using modern programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, or similar
* Serve as a mentor and technical leader, helping to elevate the capabilities of the broader engineering team and establish best practices
* Collaborate closely with development teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle from the ground up
* Take the lead on incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and post-event analysis
* Provide guidance during planning cycles to ensure security is embedded in product and platform roadmaps
* Set technical direction for initiatives that span multiple systems, services, or business units
* Create and maintain clear documentation outlining security designs, processes, and controls
* Evaluate and approve proposed architectures to ensure alignment with security standards and policies
* Conduct in-depth security assessments of applications and critical infrastructure

REQUIREMENTS:
* 10+ years of experience in Information Security, ideally with a strong focus on cloud environments such as AWS
* Deep, hands-on expertise working with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar)
* Solid programming background with experience in languages such as Java, Python, Go, or comparable technologies

Preferred Qualifications:
* AWS Certified Security - Specialty or similar cloud security certification
* Industry-recognized certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent
* Experience working within ISO 27001 or similarly regulated compliance frameworks

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
