Position Summary

In this role as Sr Software Development Engineer, you will lead both full-time employees and contracted resources to execute project work within the IT organization at CVS Health. You are responsible to act as Linux engineering subject matter expert on projects and business support requests of all sizes, from initiation through successful completion. You should be able to provide multiple solution approaches and be able to perform the engineering and drive the development required to implement any selected option. In alignment with Store Systems Management, problem resolution and collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure project goals are met. In addition, the Linux Engineer provides Store Systems Management with regular status updates, continuous process improvement, and completion of customer satisfaction initiatives.

You will cultivate an environment that empowers teams and supports the development of team members, enabling everyone to deliver their best work.

You will communicate design approaches and collaborate across teams to explore integration options. Additionally, you will train new technology leaders and developers on best practices for building resilient applications.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ Linux Administration/Engineering/Configuration Debian and RHEL based
  • 5+ years experience with Bash/Python scripting
  • 3+ years experience in Docker (EE & CE), create containers, docker-compose (Kubernetes, docker swarm is a plus)
  • 3+ years experience with Linux Benchmarking, Performance Testing
  • 3+ years experience in SystemD and Linux services (NTP, DNS, Squid, NFS)
  • 3+ years experience with Linux middleware services Apache, MySQL

Preferred Qualifications
  • CI/CD - Jenkins pipeline, GIT
  • Ansible
  • Linux Monitoring, alerting
  • Server Capacity Planning
  • Experience implementing HA environments
  • Experience with other Hypervisor hardware/software (Nutanix, Vmware Esxi)
  • Experience in Hybrid Cloud Platforms i.e OpenShift, OpenStack

Education
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$101,970.00 - $203,940.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
