Job Overview

ROLE PURPOSE

Serve as the programme's Jira Cloud subject-matter authority in support of Client's migration execution. The role advises on target-state architecture, rationalization, app strategy, and validation approach - ensuring Client's migration engineering team executes against a clean, well-designed cloud destination - without itself owning migration execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Advise on target-state Atlassian Cloud architecture: site and plan topology, sandbox strategy, data residency posture, identity and access patterns (SSO/SCIM, Atlassian Guard), and permission/governance models.
• Lead rationalization recommendations ahead of each wave: workflows, custom fields, schemes, screens, dashboards, and Confluence space structures - reducing migration payload and post-migration debt.
• Own the Marketplace app gap analysis: Data Center app inventory, cloud equivalence assessment, Connect-to-Forge implications, and recommendations to replace, retire, or rebuild - a primary driver of wave complexity classification.
• Advise on integration patterns for rebuilt or replaced integrations with enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, ServiceNow), in coordination with the Senior Cloud Engineer and Client integration owners.
• Support wave criteria definition and per-project complexity assessment; contribute to go/no-go readiness reviews.
• Define the validation and verification approach for migrated data and configuration (staging-first migration, integrity comparison, user mapping consistency) and review verification outcomes with Client's migration engineers.
• Provide escalation-level troubleshooting guidance during migration windows and hypercare; document architectural decisions and standards in Confluence.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• 10+ years of Atlassian platform expertise spanning Jira Data Center and Jira Cloud administration/architecture at enterprise scale (5,000+ users).
• Direct experience with Data Center-to-Cloud migration assessment and planning, including familiarity with Atlassian's cloud migration tooling and staged (staging-to-production) migration approaches.
• Deep knowledge of the Atlassian Marketplace ecosystem, including cloud app parity analysis and the Connect/Forge platform transition.
• Strong grasp of enterprise identity, security, and governance in Atlassian Cloud (Atlassian Guard/Access, SSO/SCIM, data residency).
• Ability to communicate architectural trade-offs crisply to both engineers and programme leadership.

PREFERRED

• Atlassian certifications (e.g., ACP-level Jira administration).
• Experience in regulated industries where validation evidence and auditability matter.
• Exposure to SAFe-aligned Jira configuration at scale.
