Job Description
We are seeking an Application Programmer III to join our dynamic team supporting Bank of America Reference Data platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in hands-on software development using a 3rd-generation language (Scala, Java, or Python) and a proven ability to design and deliver horizontally scalable, high-performance applications while learning new domains with minimal supervision. This role requires 3 days onsite per week and an immediate start.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable, high-performance services and applications.
- Learn business processes and reference data domains to inform technical solutions.
- Collaborate in an Agile environment to gather requirements and perform basic data analysis.
- Build and integrate REST-based web services with robust testing and automation practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of heavy, hands-on software development in Scala, Java, or Python.
- Proficiency with REST-based web services.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
- Ability to learn new technologies and work with minimal direct supervision.
- Experience with test-driven methodologies, unit and regression automation, and CI/CD practices.
- Experience performing basic data analysis and requirements gathering.
- Background working in Agile development environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Functional programming experience.
- Exposure to graph technologies, Semantic Web (RDF), and SPARQL.
- Experience with distributed computing and tools such as Zookeeper, Storm, Spark, HDFS, or Hive.
- Experience with Selenium and Cucumber.
- Experience enhancing and maintaining mission-critical software in a fast-paced environment.
