Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior PACS & Medical Imaging Cloud Migration Consultant to lead the transformation of a large, on-premises PACS and imaging environment to a cloud or hybrid cloud architecture. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in DICOM standards, PACS/VNA platforms, and enterprise imaging workflows, combined with hands-on experience migrating clinical imaging systems to secure, scalable cloud environments.

This role requires both technical leadership and consulting skills, working directly with healthcare IT, radiology stakeholders, and cloud teams to ensure a safe, compliant, and disruption-free migration.

Key Responsibilities

PACS to Cloud Migration Leadership

• Assess existing on-premises PACS and imaging infrastructure

• Define cloud or hybrid imaging architecture (IaaS / PaaS / SaaS)

• Lead phased migration of:

• Historical DICOM imaging data

• Active clinical workflows

• Minimize clinical downtime and ensure continuity of care

DICOM & Imaging Data Management

• Plan and execute large-scale DICOM data migration

• Handle:

• DICOM normalization

• Metadata reconciliation

• Patient and study integrity validation

• Validate migrated images for clinical accuracy and completeness

• Support DICOM routing, prefetching, and lifecycle management

Cloud & Enterprise Imaging Architecture

• Design secure imaging storage using:

• Cloud object storage (AWS S3, Azure Blob, Google Cloud Platform Storage)

• Archive tiers and lifecycle policies

• Implement cloud-based VNA or PACS solutions

• Support cloud-native DICOMweb APIs

• Enable hybrid access between on-prem modalities and cloud archives

Interoperability & Integration

• Integrate cloud imaging platforms with:

• RIS / HIS

• EHR systems

• Ensure seamless use of:

• DICOM

• HL7 v2

• IHE profiles (XDS-I)

• Coordinate with vendors to align conformance statements and interfaces

Security, Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with:

• HIPAA

• GDPR (if applicable)

• Implement:

• Encryption (at rest & in transit)

• Role-based access controls

• Audit logging

• Define data retention, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies

Consulting & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as a trusted advisor to:

• Radiology leadership

• Healthcare IT teams

• Cloud engineering teams

• Lead technical workshops and architecture reviews

• Provide documentation, migration plans, and operational runbooks

Required Qualifications

Experience

• 10+ years in Healthcare IT with deep PACS and medical imaging focus

• Proven experience migrating on-prem PACS or VNA systems to cloud or hybrid architectures

• Strong background working with hospitals or large healthcare networks

Technical Skills

• Expert knowledge of DICOM standards and workflows

• Hands-on experience with:

• PACS systems

• Vendor Neutral Archives (VNA)

• Strong understanding of:

• HL7 v2

• IHE integration profiles

• DICOMweb (QIDO-RS, WADO-RS, STOW-RS)

• Experience with cloud platforms:

• AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience with cloud-native PACS or VNA solutions

• Knowledge of imaging data lifecycle management

• Exposure to AI/ML imaging pipelines

• Experience leading multi-TB or PB-scale imaging migrations

Strong client-facing consulting experience.
