Job description:
Workday Training & Change Management Consultant to support its enterprise Workday implementation. This consultant will help prepare employees for the transition to Workday by reviewing and customizing training materials, coordinating training activities across departments, and delivering end-user training throughout implementation and go-live.
This is not a traditional instructional design role. The ideal candidate has prior Workday implementation experience and understands how to translate Workday functionality into practical, role-based training for business users.
Initially, the consultant will focus on reviewing implementation deliverables, learning client business processes, and preparing a comprehensive training strategy. As the project progresses, responsibilities will shift toward coordinating and delivering client-wide training.
Key Responsibilities:
Training Development & Documentation
- Review and evaluate Workday training materials and job aids developed by the implementation partner.
- Customize training documentation to align with client s business processes and workflows.
- Collaborate with IT, functional departments, and the implementation partner to ensure training materials are accurate and user-friendly.
- Maintain and organize training documentation for future use.
End-User Training
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver Workday training across multiple functional areas.
- Facilitate instructor-led and virtual training sessions.
- Prepare training schedules, agendas, and supporting materials.
- Answer user questions and reinforce Workday best practices.
- Support user adoption before, during, and after go-live.
Training topics may include:
- Human Resources
- Finance
- Purchasing & Procurement
- Accounts Payable
- Requisitions
- Expense Reimbursements
- Contracts
- Budget-related processes
- Additional Workday modules as implementation progresses
Change Management:
- Support organizational readiness and user adoption efforts.
- Assist departments in preparing for new Workday processes.
- Reinforce change management initiatives and training communications.
- Help employees transition successfully to the new system.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Partner with IT, functional departments, and the Workday implementation partner.
- Coordinate training schedules, documentation updates, user readiness activities, and feedback collection.
- Participate in rollout planning and ensure implementation deliverables are effectively translated into client-specific training.
Project Planning:
During the early stages of the engagement, responsibilities will primarily include:
- Learning client business processes
- Reviewing implementation documentation
- Understanding Workday configuration
- Developing training plans and rollout schedules
- Coordinating upcoming training efforts
Client-wide end-user training is expected to increase as the implementation approaches go-live.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience supporting one or more Workday implementations
- Experience with Workday HCM and/or Workday Financials
- Experience with Workday Procurement, Expenses, or Budgeting
- ERP implementation experience
- Organizational Change Management (OCM) experience
- Public sector or local government experience
- Experience supporting Finance, Purchasing, or Human Resources organizations
- Experience developing and delivering end-user training for enterprise software
- Experience creating or modifying training materials and job aids
- Experience facilitating instructor-led and virtual training
- Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Experience working with cross-functional business teams
- Ability to work independently in a flexible consulting environment
