Job Description

We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer to design, build, and manage scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions on AWS. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with AWS data services, data lakes, data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud data modernization.

Candidates must be able to work from the NJ office as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize large-scale data pipelines and data lake architectures on AWS.
• Build end-to-end data solutions covering ingestion, storage, transformation, processing, and analytics.
• Work extensively with AWS Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, EMR/Spark, Kinesis, Athena, RDS, and API Gateway.
• Develop scalable ETL/ELT processes and data integration solutions.
• Support migration of legacy data platforms to AWS-based data lakes and warehouses.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Establish and enforce data quality, security, governance, and compliance standards.
• Drive adoption of DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Troubleshoot complex data and pipeline issues and provide technical leadership in resolution.
• Optimize solutions for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost.
• Mentor and coach junior/mid-level data engineers.
• Evaluate emerging AWS technologies and modern data engineering frameworks.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of professional Data Engineering experience.
• Extensive hands-on AWS experience with:

  • Athena
  • RDS
  • API Gateway
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience with data lakes, data warehouses, and large-scale ingestion pipelines.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, data modeling, and big data technologies.
• Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Data Engineer certification.
• Experience with real-time/streaming data technologies.
• Shell scripting or Scala experience.
• Knowledge of data governance, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with Lakehouse architecture and modern cloud data platforms.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or coaching data engineering teams.
