Senior Python / Django Developer

We are seeking a senior Python/Django developer to build and support scalable backend applications, data-processing solutions, APIs, and enterprise integrations. This role is ideal for a senior engineer with strong Python/Django expertise and recent experience supporting higher education, EdTech, e-learning, LMS, students, or learning platforms.

Work Arrangement: Full-time onsite at Chelsea Piers, New York City
Duration: 1-Year Right-to-Hire

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications using Python and Django.
• Build scalable backend services and REST APIs for enterprise applications.
• Develop data-processing solutions using Pandas, NumPy, and PySpark.
• Work with large and complex datasets and optimize data-processing workflows.
• Develop integrations between enterprise applications, databases, and data platforms.
• Work extensively with PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL.
• Build and support cloud-based applications using AWS.
• Work with S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS, SQS, SNS, and Redshift.
• Containerize applications using Docker.
• Use Git, Linux, and CI/CD processes for development and deployment.
• Troubleshoot application, integration, and production issues.
• Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, deployments, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, data professionals, architects, and business stakeholders in an Agile environment.
• Lead or contribute to complex application and platform migrations from planning through production.

What You Need

• 8–10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and Django.
• Recent professional experience in higher education, EdTech, e-learning, LMS, student platforms, or learning platforms.
• Strong experience developing enterprise applications and backend services.
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL and/or Oracle.
• Hands-on experience with Pandas, NumPy, and PySpark.
• Strong experience with AWS and cloud-based application development.
• Experience with Docker, Git, Linux, and CI/CD.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
• Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• At least two fully completed migrations are required.
• Your resume must clearly explain each migration, including:
  • The system or application that was migrated.
  • The source and target platforms or technologies.
  • Your specific role and responsibilities.
  • Your involvement in development, data migration, integration, testing, and deployment.
  • Confirmation that the migration was successfully taken through production.
• Candidates must be able to work full-time onsite at Chelsea Piers, NYC.
• Candidates must be available for a 1-year contract-to-hire opportunity.

• Experience with Flask or FastAPI.
