Summary

Description

Tyler Technologies is seeking an application engineer to design, develop, and support high-performance web-based applications using our low-code platform for business process management. In this role, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions that address operational needs for government clients.

The role includes responsibilities for developing new functionality and supporting existing solutions. Candidates should be comfortable solving technical challenges, writing clean and maintainable code, and collaborating across teams. A strong foundation in Java, JavaScript, and SQL is important for success.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and implement web-based applications using a low-code platform and complementary technologies
  • Support existing solutions through issue investigation, debugging, maintenance, and enhancement requests
  • Translate business and functional requirements into scalable application components and configurations
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA engineers to deliver features, enhancements, and technical resolutions
  • Provide client-facing support for application configuration, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvements
  • Perform debugging, issue resolution, and unit testing to ensure software reliability and performance
  • Contribute to the full development lifecycle, including planning, implementation, and post-deployment support
  • Document technical details and development decisions according to internal standards
  • Participate in peer code reviews and support ongoing team process improvements
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients and internal teams

Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, and SQL for application development
  • Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle, including schema design and query optimization
  • Understanding of J2EE architecture and experience deploying applications with servers such as Tomcat, JBoss, or Apache
  • Ability to interpret requirements and develop application logic that aligns with platform capabilities
  • Experience working with workflow or data transaction systems
  • Familiarity with JSP and reporting tools such as iReport
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and client-facing contexts
  • Attention to detail and a focus on maintainability and long-term solution health
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
