*This is an ON-SITE position at our Reston, VA officeApptium Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead - Software Development to guide a team of developers in building scalable, secure, and high-performance applications. This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, ensuring the successful delivery of software solutions across the full development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the design, development, and debugging of web-based software solutions using Java, APIs, and relational databases.
- Guide and mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects, Product Owners, and QA teams to define technical requirements and deliverables.
- Analyze and optimize existing systems for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and clients to resolve technical issues and align on project goals.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality software in a deadline-sensitive environment.
- Contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies and support continuous integration and deployment efforts.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
- Strong development skills in Java/J2EE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JDBC.
- Experience with RESTful and SOAP web services.
- Familiarity with other languages such as Go, PHP, JavaScript, NodeJS, Python, Ruby, and Shell scripting.
- Experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Couchbase, Cassandra).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless functions.
- Experience with logging and monitoring tools (ELK, Splunk), caching and queuing systems (Redis, Kafka, MQ).
- Understanding of identity and SSO systems (OAuth, SAML, Cognito, Firebase).
- Exposure to front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS, JS, Angular, React) is a plus.
- Familiarity with code quality and security tools (SonarQube, Crucible, JSLint).
- Experience in Linux/Unix environments and task/documentation tools (JIRA, Confluence).
