The role is embedded within ADT to provide sustained, dedicated Windows desktop engineering expertise that supports and complements the DT team’s expertise.

Key Responsibilities
VDI Platform Administration
  • Serve as the primary technical owner for the Windows Virtual Desktop environment; manage the platform at the image, session, and application delivery level; support ongoing migration and stabilization efforts post-PowerVDI transition.
User Experience Optimization
  • Systematically identify, track, and resolve top VDI pain points affecting engineering users; drive measurable improvement in perceived desktop responsiveness and application reliability.
Image & Application Management
  • Manage Windows VDI base image lifecycle including OS patching/rollback, application deployment, and standardization aligned with ADT's Software Store Standardization initiative.
Data Migration & User Onboarding
  • Support and lead ongoing user data migration efforts from legacy environments; manage user onboarding workflows and access provisioning for new and migrating VDI users.
Application Compatibility & Troubleshooting
  • Resolve complex application compatibility issues on Windows VDI, including engineering applications (e.g., Matlab, Exceed, NX, and 3rd party simulation tools); serve as the escalation point for desktop-tier issues that affect engineering productivity.
Performance Monitoring & Capacity Management
  • Monitor VDI session performance, resource consumption, and concurrency patterns; provide capacity data to inform provisioning decisions and cost benchmarking by engineer persona.
Windows Deployment Standardization
  • Support migration of Windows deployment processes toward more automated, standardized models, aligned with broader CI/CD goals.
Security & Compliance
  • Ensure Windows VDI environments meet Client cybersecurity standards; support vulnerability remediation workflows coordinated by ADT's security and compliance initiatives.
Collaboration with DT
  • Work closely with the DT team on underlying infrastructure changes (AWS WorkSpaces or equivalent), networking, and cloud capacity; provide Windows desktop expertise while DT manages the cloud and network layers.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
Must Have
  • Deep expertise with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows application delivery
  • Experience troubleshooting complex application compatibility and performance issues in a multi-user desktop environment
  • Experience with enterprise VDI platforms (e.g., Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VMware Horizon, AWS WorkSpaces, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency with Windows image management, patching, and lifecycle tooling (SCCM/Intune or similar)
  • Strong understanding of user profile management, roaming profiles, and folder redirection in virtual environments
  • Windows Virtual Desktop Infrastructure administration experience in an enterprise environment

Nice To Have
  • AWS WorkSpaces or cloud based VDI administration experience
  • Experience in a dual protocol (Windows + Linux) mixed VDI environment
  • Experience supporting engineering or scientific applications in a VDI environment
  • Familiarity with software packaging, deployment automation, and Software Store/app delivery models
  • Scripting skills (PowerShell) for administration and automation
