Job Overview:

Requirement/Must Have:

  • Hands-on experience with server hardware installation, troubleshooting, and decommissioning in a data center environment.
  • Experience diagnosing hardware faults related to HDDs, DIMMs, PSUs, fans, NICs, and other server components.
  • Experience reviewing BMC, SEL, and OS logs for hardware fault diagnosis.
  • Experience with network and power fault remediation, including reseating and replacing cables, NICs, and PSU cables.
  • Experience following parts request and RMA processes for hardware replacement.
  • Experience with ticket management and maintaining accurate ticket documentation.
  • Experience installing NVMe and SSD devices in server nodes.
  • Experience with Rack Distribution Unit configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with rack and cabinet hardware installation, including rails and switches.

Experience:

  • Experience preparing server nodes and chassis for decommissioning activities.
  • Experience reviewing ticket queues, assigning break-fix tasks, and diagnosing server hardware issues.
  • Experience installing and validating NVMe and SSD devices based on hardware compatibility requirements.
  • Experience documenting asset details, including serial numbers and parts information.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Rack Distribution Units (RDUs).
  • Experience performing pod or MBU builds, including hardware unpacking, rail installation, and switch mounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare specified server nodes and chassis for decommissioning and perform related decommissioning tasks as directed.
  • Review the ticket queue to assign and diagnose hardware-related faults for servers.
  • Diagnose issues involving HDDs, DIMMs, PSUs, fans, NICs, and other server components by reviewing ticket information and BMC, SEL, or OS logs.
  • Perform network and power fault remediation, including reseating or replacing cables, NICs, and PSU cables.
  • Follow parts request and RMA processes to acquire replacement components.
  • Open asset requests, log serial numbers and part numbers, and update appropriate ticket statuses.
  • Maintain strong ticket hygiene by documenting root cause, actions taken, parts used, and remediation details.
  • Install NVMe and SSD devices into specified server nodes.
  • Verify server node and NVMe or SSD compatibility based on provided specifications.
  • Install NVMe and SSD devices into the correct slots and secure them according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Document installations with device serial numbers and update the customer s asset tracking system.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Rack Distribution Units (RDUs) based on customer requirements.
  • Perform pod or MBU builds, including unpacking equipment, installing mounting rails, and installing ASW switches into designated server cabinets and rack units.

Should Have:

  • Experience working in large-scale data center environments.
  • Strong understanding of server hardware lifecycle support, including deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Familiarity with asset tracking systems and hardware inventory management.
  • Experience with rack layout documentation and structured installation procedures.
