Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Systems Administration Manager to manage engineering change requests, engineering change orders, and configuration management activities within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering change management, BOM management, engineering documentation, and impact assessment within an engineering or electronics manufacturing environment. This role involves close collaboration with engineering, software, electronics, mechanical, quality, product management, compliance, and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant implementation of engineering changes.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, coordinate, and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) within the designated PLM system.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather required information and ensure engineering changes are complete and accurate.
- Conduct impact assessments to determine how component-level changes affect assemblies, systems, and finished goods.
- Evaluate change feasibility, risks, readiness, and operational impacts across engineering and manufacturing functions.
- Create and maintain part numbers, assembly structures, and engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Manage engineering change controls for software, electronics, mechanical, and systems components.
- Review engineering documentation and ensure proper traceability, configuration control, and compliance.
- Work with ERP/MRP systems to support engineering change implementation and documentation updates.
- Coordinate with engineering, quality, compliance, and product teams to ensure timely completion of change-related activities.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering activities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for engineering change management processes and PLM systems.
- Partner with IT teams to maintain and improve PLM system functionality and processes.
- Support design assurance and compliance activities by ensuring changes meet applicable standards and internal procedures.
- Delegate and track change-related activities to ensure timely implementation and minimize errors, rework, and delays.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience managing engineering changes in new product development or sustaining engineering projects.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with PLM systems and engineering data management tools.
- Hands-on experience with ERP or MRP systems.
- Experience with engineering change control processes, ECRs, and ECOs.
- Experience creating and managing engineering BOMs, part numbers, and assembly structures.
- Ability to perform engineering impact assessments and evaluate downstream effects of component-level changes.
- Understanding of purchased off-the-shelf components versus purchased design components and their documentation requirements.
- Basic understanding of PBCA structures and associated engineering documentation.
- Experience with engineering documentation review, configuration management, and change implementation.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electronics manufacturing, sensor-based products, or complex engineered systems.
- Knowledge of design assurance and compliance processes.
- Experience supporting safety-critical products, flame and gas detection systems, or hazard-mitigation technologies.
- Experience supporting NPI and sustaining engineering programs.
- Familiarity with structured change management methodologies and configuration management practices.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
