Job Description (JD): Space Protection Acquisition Engineer

Location: Remote

Job Summary

We are seeking a Space Protection Acquisition Engineer to support the acquisition, development, and lifecycle management of space protection systems and technologies. The ideal candidate will work with engineering, program management, procurement, and government or commercial stakeholders to ensure technical solutions meet mission, cost, schedule, and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, acquisition, and delivery of space protection systems and capabilities.
  • Develop and manage technical requirements, acquisition strategies, and program documentation.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals, technical solutions, and system performance.
  • Coordinate with systems engineering, cybersecurity, software, and hardware teams throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, technical risks, and program milestones.
  • Support system integration, verification, validation, and acceptance activities.
  • Conduct technical reviews, trade studies, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable acquisition policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and program documentation for stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement of acquisition processes and engineering practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and acquisition lifecycle processes.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with space systems, satellite programs, or space domain awareness initiatives.
  • Knowledge of government or defense acquisition frameworks and procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and requirements management tools.
  • Experience with risk management, verification and validation (V&V), and systems integration.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity requirements for space systems.
  • Experience with Agile or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as PMP, INCOSE ASEP/CSEP, or equivalent.
