Summary

SAFe Practitioner (Remote - Contract)

Location: 100% Remote
Duration: 6-month contract (with potential for long-term extension or conversion)
Employment Type: W-2 Contract

Overview

  • We are seeking a highly experienced SAFe Practitioner to support an enterprise-wide transformation from project-based delivery to a product-focused operating model. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role working across PMO, EPMO, and Enterprise Execution teams to assess portfolios, recommend improvements, design SAFe artifacts, and lead end-to-end implementation and sustainment.
  • The ideal candidate is a senior Scrum Master / Agile Project Manager type with deep, practical SAFe experience who can influence leadership, coach teams, and drive measurable improvements in efficiency, predictability, and delivery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess current portfolio, program, and delivery models and identify gaps in organizational maturity
  • Guide the transition from project-oriented to product-oriented delivery using SAFe principles
  • Design, implement, and maintain SAFe artifacts including portfolio backlogs, epics, roadmaps, PI plans, OKRs, and governance models
  • Lead hands-on SAFe implementation efforts across portfolio, program, and team levels
  • Coach leaders and teams on Lean-Agile mindset, SAFe practices, and continuous improvement
  • Facilitate PI Planning, Inspect & Adapt, and cross-team dependency management
  • Partner with PMO/EPMO and enterprise execution groups to improve intake, prioritization, and flow of work
  • Establish and track metrics to improve predictability, throughput, and delivery efficiency
  • Influence and communicate effectively with senior leaders and VP-level stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated hands-on enterprise-scale SAFe transformation experience (assessment through sustainment)
  • Strong background as a senior Scrum Master, Agile Project Manager, or similar role
  • Proven experience launching, coaching, or supporting Agile Release Trains (ARTs)
  • Experience working across enterprise portfolios and high-visibility initiatives
  • Deep understanding of portfolio management, value streams, and product-centric delivery models
  • Ability to design and own SAFe artifacts-not just facilitate ceremonies
  • Comfort operating in complex, large-scale enterprise environments
  • Advanced SAFe certifications (SA, SASM, SPC strongly preferred)
  • Experience coaching leadership teams and influencing organizational change
  • Experience in PMO or EPMO environments
  • Track record of driving efficiency, cost savings, and delivery improvements
