Full Stack Software Engineer (Lead) - Data Platforms

Location: Charlotte, NC
Work Type: Contract (18-24 months)

About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Full Stack Software Engineer to design and build scalable enterprise data platforms that power analytics and regulatory reporting. In this role, you'll lead end-to-end development, working across frontend, backend, and data layers while mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions, transform complex requirements into scalable systems, and help shape the technical direction of the platform.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of full stack applications for data platforms
  • Build and optimize large-scale data pipelines for analytics and reporting
  • Develop backend services using Java (microservices architecture) and Python
  • Create modern, responsive UIs using Angular or React
  • Work with big data processing tools such as Spark (preferred)
  • Own end-to-end delivery from requirements through production implementation
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership and guidance
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals
  • Drive best practices in system design, scalability, performance, and code quality
  • Leverage GenAI tools to improve development productivity and delivery efficiency
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 11-12 years of hands-on full stack development experience
  • Strong experience with Java and microservices architecture
  • Experience with frontend frameworks such as Angular or React
  • Working knowledge of Python
  • Experience delivering end-to-end technical solutions
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable architectures
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Spark and big data processing
  • Familiarity with data platforms, data pipelines, or analytics systems
  • Experience in regulated environments or reporting systems
  • Exposure to GenAI tools for development productivity
  • Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong ownership mindset and team-oriented attitude
  • Technical screening results (focused on Java/Angular) must be included with submission
