Role Overview
We are seeking an AWS Data Engineer to support a mission-critical mainframe modernization initiative for a financial and regulatory reporting platform. This role involves migrating legacy workloads to cloud-native platforms, including AWS, Databricks, and Snowflake. The position requires hands-on technical leadership to guide the transformation, ensuring a controlled and auditable migration while maintaining uninterrupted financial close and regulatory reporting throughout the transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform deep technical analysis of the existing mainframe environment, utilizing GenAI-based tooling for code and data assessment.
- Design the target-state architecture using AWS, Databricks, and Snowflake services.
- Drive initial implementation activities, including foundational data requirements, security controls, encryption standards, and CI/CD pipeline setup.
- Manage the implementation of PII and security controls in alignment with organizational standards.
- Oversee the integration with critical downstream systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including application, security, and data governance, to address complex design and compliance dependencies within delivery timelines.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in ETL and SQL/PLSQL.
- 7+ years of experience with databases.
- 4+ years of experience with Big Data technologies.
- 2+ years of experience in AWS Data Engineering.
- 2+ years of experience with AWS Glue and AWS EMR.
- 2+ years of experience with PySpark or Python.
- 2+ years of experience with Databricks and Snowflake.
- 2+ years of experience with AWS Services (S3, EFS, Lambda, SNS, DMS, DataSync).
- 2+ years of experience on a mainframe migration project.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GenAI developer tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude.
Interview Process
The interview process will consist of two video rounds. Interviews will be technical and role-appropriate, focusing on assessing hands-on experience, architectural thinking, and practical problem-solving.
