Technical Lead: Guidewire InsuranceNow (ACX)
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced InsuranceNow Technical Lead to serve as the head technical voice for our ACX Personal Lines Feature Team.
This individual will be the primary technical authority for the pod who is responsible for solution design, configuration oversight, underwriting product changes, rate filings implementation, and release execution within Guidewire InsuranceNow (ACX).
This is a contractor role with a dual mission:
- Lead and own technical decision-making within the pod
- Mentor and develop an internal employee into the long-term Technical Lead role
This role requires a confident, assertive communicator who can engage effectively with Business Analysts, Project Manager, Product, QA, Architecture, Security, and Underwriting stakeholders (not just developers).
Core Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Serve as the technical authority for all ACX Personal Lines enhancements
- Lead configuration and implementation of rate filings, product versions, and underwriting rule changes
- Provide design direction for new features and system enhancements
- Ensure solutions align with architecture, security, and integration standards
- Own technical quality across development lifecycle
InsuranceNow Expertise
- Deep hands-on configuration within Guidewire InsuranceNow (ACX)
- Experience with:
- Ratebook & pricing configuration
- Product model changes
- State-specific filings
- Underwriting workflows
- Business rules and forms configuration
- Ability to assess impacts of product changes across jurisdictions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with:
- Product Management & Business Analysts
- Underwriting stakeholders
- QA & Release Management
- Architecture & Security
- Translate business requirements into technically sound configurations
- Challenge unclear requirements with confidence and clarity
- Represent technical trade-offs in steering or planning conversations
Delivery & Quality Ownership
- Review designs, configuration changes, and code
- Guide defect remediation strategy
- Support UAT and production readiness
- Ensure release quality and stability
- Establish and enforce unit testing standards for all relevant code changes
Mentorship & Capability Building
- Mentor an internal employee to grow into the Technical Lead role
- Establish best practices for documentation, configuration governance, and review processes
- Strengthen overall pod technical maturity
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of Property & Casualty insurance systems experience
- 5+ years hands-on Guidewire InsuranceNow (ACX) experience
- Demonstrated experience implementing:
- Rate filings
- Multi-state product changes
- Underwriting configuration
- Product versioning within InsuranceNow
- Strong understanding of Personal Lines domain
- Experience leading small delivery teams or pods
- Onshore U.S.-based resource (required)
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences
- Confident, assertive presence in cross-functional discussions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in multi-state regulatory filings
- Familiarity with InsuranceNow API integrations
- Experience working in Agile pod-based delivery models
- Background working with distributed or vendor teams
- Prior mentorship or succession-planning experience
