Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled PostgreSQL DBA with strong experience in EnterpriseDB (EDB) environments to manage, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL database systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installation, configuration, administration, monitoring, performance tuning, deployments, and high availability management of PostgreSQL databases, including EnterpriseDB Postgres Distributed (PGD) clusters.
The candidate should have hands-on experience supporting mission-critical production environments and ensuring database reliability, scalability, security, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and administer PostgreSQL and EnterpriseDB database environments.
- Manage and support EnterpriseDB Postgres Distributed (PGD) clusters for high availability and replication.
- Perform database deployments, migrations, patching, and version upgrades.
- Monitor database health, availability, and performance using monitoring and administration tools.
- Troubleshoot database issues, replication failures, and performance bottlenecks.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies using PostgreSQL/EDB tools.
- Configure and manage replication, clustering, failover, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Perform database performance tuning including query optimization, indexing, vacuuming, and resource utilization improvements.
- Support production, development, QA, and staging database environments.
- Ensure database security, access control, and compliance standards are maintained.
- Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure teams, and DevOps teams for database-related activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and operational procedures.
- Participate in on-call support and incident management activities when required.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database administration.
- Experience working with EnterpriseDB (EDB) products and tools.
- Hands-on experience with EnterpriseDB Postgres Distributed (PGD) clusters.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, replication, clustering, and high availability concepts.
- Experience in database installation, configuration, backup/recovery, and patch management.
- Strong experience in database performance tuning and query optimization.
- Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Good understanding of database security and access management.
- Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting database environments.
- Familiarity with shell scripting or automation tools is preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of DBA experience with PostgreSQL, preferably in EnterpriseDB environments.
- Experience supporting large-scale or mission-critical production systems.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
- Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD deployments is an added advantage.
- EnterpriseDB certifications are preferred.
