SAP Finance Solution Architect

Vortex Consulting is seeking a senior level SAP FI/CO Functional consultant to assist our client with an implementation project.

The qualified consultant will have the following:

• Experience In Aerospace & Defense, finance processes must comply with strict regulatory frameworks (e.g., FAR, CAS, DFARS) and support cost accounting for government contracts, project-based accounting, and audit readiness. A commercial line of business needs to follow standard costing methodologies.
• The consultant ensures SAP FI/CO configurations meet these requirements while enabling transparency and traceability across a complex financial landscape.
• Must be able to lead a team of process and business team resources through system design and build, and execution of standard planned fit-gap analysis workshops.
• Industry Knowledge and understanding of government compliance and contract accounting.
• Understanding of cost allocation, project accounting, and reporting for defense contracts.
• Align SAP finance objectives with ITAR/EAR compliance, audit standards, and program cost visibility.
• Application of actual and standard costing methods across shared resources.

Position Qualifications:

• 10+ years experience in SAP Functional Finance and Controlling, Project Systems, and GPD (Grouping, Pegging and Distribution).
• SAP contract management for time & material fixed price contracts.
• Application of long term accounting principles.
• Technical & Analytics Skills to conduct fit-gap analysis between SAP standard FI/CO and A&D-specific needs (e.g., WBS elements, cost collectors, contract billing).
• Document required enhancements for government cost pools, indirect rate structures, and audit trails.
• Ability to define and document functional specifications
• Understanding of integration with IM and EWM.
• Ability to lead workshops with service and Finance stakeholders.
• Strong documentation and process mapping skills.
• Experience working in agile teams and SAP Activate phases.

This is a 12 month project with occasional travel to Western NY.
