Overview

Ready to put your technical expertise to work in a role that directly impacts fleet readiness? DLH is hiring a Senior Network Engineer (Engineer, Computer IV) to join our team onsite at Naval Station Norfolk. Supporting TACNET CB-ISEA, you will serve as a lead technical authority partnering with Government SMEs to drive advanced Sustainment and Fielded Systems Engineering while preparing the fleet for next-generation tactical network initiatives. This high-impact role seamlessly blends complex technical execution with responsibilities in team mentorship, contract deliverables, technical data calls, and executive briefings.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the sustainment engineering, system configuration, and lifecycle support of afloat and ashore Navy tactical networks (including CANES, ADNS, and ISNS).
  • Partner with senior Government SMEs to analyze system performance and design robust fielded systems engineering practices for upcoming Navy modernization and sustainment initiatives.
  • Direct daily priorities, coordinate tasks, and mentor sustainment engineers and analysts to improve operational efficiency and build technical bench strength.
  • Manage, compile, and submit high-quality contract deliverables and complex program data calls to NIWC Atlantic, PMW 160, and other program stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level technical briefings and status reports for Program Management Reviews (PMRs) and military leadership.
  • Provide advanced, remote, and on-site technical assistance and end-to-end global diagnostics to resolve complex network anomalies and CASREPs globally during high-tempo fleet readiness and test events (INSURV, DGSIT, TSRA, C5RA).
  • Conduct root-cause analyses on system failures to develop engineering workarounds, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical sustainment documentation.
  • Perform other related engineering, leadership, or administrative duties as assigned to meet dynamic and evolving program requirements.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of technical experience supporting one or more of the following Navy systems: Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES), Automated Digital Network System (ADNS), Integrated Shipboard Network System (ISNS/COMPOSE), other comparable Navy Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems
  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics (with a field of concentration in Computer Science); or Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics (with a field of concentration in Computer Science).
  • Equivalent technical trade, military service, or professional experience will be fully considered under an approved education waiver process.
  • Ten (10) years of professional experience in computer design, software development, or computer networks if qualifying with a Master's degree; or fourteen (14) years of professional experience in computer design, software development, or computer networks if qualifying with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Must possess (or complete post-hire with COR approval) a vendor/platform-specific certification such as Cisco CCNP/CCDP, Red Hat RHCP, VMware VCP, Microsoft role-based, or Cloud certifications.
  • DoD 8570/8140 Cybersecurity Workforce qualified within nine (9) months of hire date.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance walking through the door (with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent hands-on experience in sustainment engineering or fielded systems engineering (troubleshooting, configuring, or maintaining CANES or ADNS in an active afloat or ashore environment).
  • Experience supporting Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs), In-Service Engineering Activities (ISEAs), or similar Navy technical organizations.
  • Prior experience acting as a technical lead, task manager, or directly mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior systems engineers or technicians.
  • Familiarity with VMware, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Windows Server, Cisco networking, or related enterprise technologies.
  • Experience writing technical reports, drafting data call responses, or supporting technical proposal efforts.
