Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled IBM OMA Data Conversion Specialist to support the migration, transformation, and validation of CA‑JOBTRAC job scheduling data into IBM-based enterprise scheduling environments. The ideal candidate will have strong mainframe experience, deep knowledge of IBM OMA utilities, and hands-on background performing large‑scale data conversions with attention to detail and process accuracy. Experience working with JOBTRAC job-collection data structures is critical.

This role will work closely with architecture, scheduling, and application teams to ensure a seamless transition of all batch schedules, dependencies, and operational parameters.

Key Responsibilities

Data Conversion & Migration

  • Extract, convert, and transform JOBTRAC scheduling data (jobs, calendars, triggers, relationships, and anchors) into target IBM scheduling formats.
  • Execute automated and manual data‑conversion processes, ensuring accuracy across multiple data types and formats—skills aligned with established data-conversion specialist expectations.
  • Develop mapping rules and cross‑reference matrices to align JOBTRAC constructs with IBM OMA processing models.

Technical Execution

  • Utilize IBM OMA utilities, scripts, and batch processes to ingest, verify, and validate migrated schedule data.
  • Work with mainframe datasets, JCL, REXX/CLIST, COBOL or equivalent tools for data extraction and transformation.
  • Troubleshoot conversion issues, reconcile mismatched records, and resolve discrepancies encountered during data transformation.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct iterative testing cycles: dry‑runs, comparison analysis, and post‑conversion validation.
  • Perform detailed audits to confirm job dependencies, calendars, and critical paths migrated correctly.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Coordinate with scheduling, operations, and application teams to validate business-critical job flows.
  • Document conversion procedures, mapping decisions, and exception handling logic.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and support go‑live activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of CA‑JOBTRAC job structures, job history file formats, and GJTRMAIV‑based job‑collection processes.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM mainframe environments, including IBM Z, JCL, dataset structures, and standard utilities.
  • Data conversion expertise, including manual and automated techniques, large‑scale dataset handling, and transformation logic.
  • Familiarity with IBM OMA (Operational Management Assistant) or related IBM scheduling toolsets.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (REXX preferred), FTP/SFTP, and mainframe data manipulation tools.

Core Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities—especially when handling large and complex data sets, as expected for professional data‑conversion roles.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross‑team collaboration.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple conversion streams under tight timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience converting from CA‑JOBTRAC to an IBM‑based scheduler.
  • Background in enterprise scheduling modernization projects.
  • Familiarity with IBM Talent Framework competencies for technical roles (structured proficiency levels, behavioral indicators, etc.).
