Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to manage the financial administration of industrial contracting projects. This role is responsible for accurate job cost tracking, project billing, budget monitoring, accounts receivable follow-up, and financial reporting to support project managers and leadership teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction or industrial project accounting, strong Excel skills, and hands-on expertise with job cost accounting systems such as Viewpoint Vista or similar platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and submit monthly project billings with complete backup documentation including time approvals, lien waivers, certified payroll, and insurance certificates.
  2. Ensure billings comply with contract terms, schedules of values, approved change orders, and customer requirements.
  3. Track accounts receivable balances and follow up on outstanding invoices to improve collections.
  4. Prepare project-specific financial reports, cost summaries, and revenue projections.
  5. Maintain accurate job cost coding including phase codes and cost types.
  6. Monitor labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor, and committed costs against approved budgets.
  7. Assist project managers with cost-to-complete forecasting, variance analysis, and monthly cost reviews.
  8. Support month-end close processes, reconciliations, and project financial adjustments.
  9. Create and manage purchase orders aligned with project budgets and commitments.
  10. Review, code, and process AP invoices while resolving discrepancies with vendors and field teams.
  11. Maintain vendor compliance documentation including COIs, W9s, and contract-specific records.
  12. Maintain organized project financial files and documentation for audit readiness.
  13. Support field teams with compliance items tied to project billing such as safety records and certifications.
  14. Enter, review, and monitor job cost transactions within the accounting system.
  15. Perform data validation, reporting analysis, and quality checks using Excel and system exports.

Required Qualifications

  1. 3+ Years (Recent Experience) in Construction or Industrial Contracting.
  2. 3+ years Accounting experience in a Construction Industry.
  3. Strong experience in Budget Tracking, Cost Control and Forecasting.
  4. Strong experience in Job Cost Structures, Phase Codes, Certified Payroll, and Lien Waivers.
  5. Expertise in Viewpoint Vista or Similar Job Cost Accounting Software.
  6. Strong experience in Financial Reporting, Cost Analysis, and Revenue Projections.
  7. Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business admin, or related field.
