OverviewWe are seeking a
Data Center Technical Operations Engineer - Facilities to support engineering and operational excellence within a large-scale
Amazon data center environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of critical data center infrastructure through strong leadership, preventative maintenance, and vendor management.
The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical expertise, people leadership, and operational discipline in mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities- Provide on-site leadership for shift technicians, senior technicians, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring all work aligns with established procedures and safety standards
- Establish performance benchmarks, analyze operational data, and prepare reports related to critical facility operations and maintenance
- Partner with IT managers and business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize safety, reliability, and efficiency
- Operate and oversee both routine and emergency operations for critical systems, including:
- Switchgear and power distribution equipment
- Generators and UPS systems
- Chillers, cooling towers, and CRAC/CRAH units
- Building Monitoring Systems (BMS)
- Support the design, build-out, or expansion of new data center facilities as needed
- Contribute to initiatives focused on improving facility performance and energy efficiency
- Manage asset tracking and inventory for critical infrastructure components
- Assist with recruiting and onboarding of technical staff
- Ensure high service quality and timely fulfillment of internal customer requirements
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or technical degree (military, trade school) with relevant experience
- 2-4 years of relevant technical experience in facility or critical infrastructure operations
- 2-4 years of people or operational management experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven leadership, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and perform effectively in a fast-paced, operationally critical environment
Preferred Qualifications- 2-4 years of data center engineering experience
- 2-4 years of data center or critical facilities management experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Fundamental knowledge of network design, layout, and low-voltage cabling (copper and fiber)
