Summary

General Summary

The Director of IT Infrastructure & Engineering is responsible for defining and executing Penumbra's global infrastructure strategy, delivering secure, scalable, resilient, and AI-ready technology platforms supporting worldwide operations. The role leads enterprise infrastructure, cloud, networking, workplace technologies, identity management, infrastructure security, and engineering operations while driving modernization through cloud transformation, automation, AI-enabled operations, and operational excellence.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Select, manage, train, and develop staff. Establish objectives and assignments and provide ongoing feedback through performance reviews and development plans. *

  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and lead high-performing Infrastructure & Engineering teams.*

  • Collaborate with business and IT leaders to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions. *

  • Ensure compliance with QMS, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Infrastructure Strategy & Engineering

  • Develop and execute Penumbra's enterprise infrastructure strategy aligned with business objectives.

  • Lead the architecture, engineering, implementation, and operation of enterprise infrastructure, cloud, networking, collaboration, identity, and endpoint platforms.

  • Drive modernization through cloud-first, automation-first, and AI-first initiatives.

  • Establish architecture standards, governance, operational excellence, and engineering best practices.

Cloud & Enterprise Platforms

  • Lead enterprise cloud, collaboration, identity, endpoint, and infrastructure services across hybrid environments.

  • Develop cloud governance, resilience, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and cost optimization strategies.

  • Ensure infrastructure platforms meet business continuity, security, and regulatory requirements.

Network & Security Infrastructure

  • Provide leadership for global network infrastructure supporting corporate, manufacturing, and remote operations.

  • Partner with Information Security to strengthen Zero Trust architecture, infrastructure security, identity management, and compliance.

AI & Infrastructure Automation

  • Champion Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, observability, and AI-powered operations.

  • Partner with Data & AI teams to build scalable infrastructure supporting enterprise AI initiatives.

Operational Excellence

  • Lead disaster recovery, business continuity, service management, operational metrics, and continuous improvement.

  • Manage strategic vendors, technology roadmaps, and infrastructure investments.

  • Adhere to the Company's Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures. *

  • Understand relevant security, privacy, and compliance principles and adhere to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company. *

  • Ensure other members of the department to follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures. *

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Minimum education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field with 15+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Additional qualifications:

  • Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred

  • 15+ years of proven experience in IT Infrastructure Management, with a strong technical background in Datacenter design, Business Continuity Planning, Incident Management, and Configuration management.

  • Any one or two certifications in relevant IT domains are highly desirable (ITIL, CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCNP, CCSP, CDCP, Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).

  • Expertise in Network Operations Center (NOC), Project Management, Security Operations, Information Security, and Compliance Management.

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and providing innovative solutions to complex IT challenges.

  • Partners well with cross-functional teams to solve hard problems and to complete complex deliverables with quality and business outcomes.

  • 8+ years of experience in a supervisory role desired

  • Strong communication and consulting skills to engage with clients across various industries and levels of expertise.

  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize assignments while handling various projects simultaneously

Working Conditions

General office environment. Willingness and ability to work on site at least 4 days a week. Business travel from 5% - 10%. Requires some lifting and moving of up to 10 pounds. Must be able to move between buildings and floors. Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day. Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets. Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed. Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels on a daily basis.

Annual Base Salary Range: $200,000 - $300,000/ year

Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
