Senior Security Engineer

Location: New Orleans, LA (On-site)
Employment Type: Contract to Perm

Role Overview

This role involves the design, implementation, and support of security controls, with a primary focus on data security and data protection technologies. The Senior Security Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert, setting policies for data loss prevention, web filtering, and web proxy, and then transitioning operational tasks to the day-to-day team. This position is critical for protecting confidential, regulated, and sensitive data across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and support data security technologies, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), data classification, content inspection, and encryption.
  • Develop, tune, and optimize DLP policies and detection logic to reduce risk while maintaining business usability.
  • Partner with architecture and engineering teams to embed data protection controls into systems and workflows.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on data security, including data loss prevention, endpoint detection, and security policies.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support incident response, with a focus on investigating and remediating data security incidents.
  • Collaborate with business, legal, and compliance stakeholders to align technical controls with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide recommendations on best practices for data handling, data lifecycle management, and access controls.
  • Assist in the development of data protection standards, procedures, and technical documentation.
Required Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in data security is required.

Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies and policies.
  • Experience with endpoint security controls and data protection.
  • Proficiency with web filtering and web proxy technologies.
  • Knowledge of security controls such as firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and identity and access management.
  • Hands-on experience integrating data security controls with cloud services and SaaS platforms.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and SSL/TLS.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of firewall management, though not a primary requirement.
