Job Description:

Job Title: Agile Coach

Location: San Antonio, TX (preferred), Findlay, OH or Denver, CO - hybrid

Remote Option: Open to fully remote candidates willing to travel to San Antonio 1-2 times per quarter for PI Planning

Client Type: Oil & Gas

Contract Duration: 9 months (through end of year) - potential to extend into 2027

Rate: up to $85/hr.

Role Summary

The Agile Coach is responsible for operationalizing SAFe at scale by translating framework intent into clear execution patterns that enable predictable, high-quality delivery. This role works across Agile Release Trains (ARTs), Shared Services, Product, and Release Train Engineers (RTEs) to improve flow, manage dependencies, and ensure outcomes align with enterprise priorities and value stream objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Operationalize SAFe at the ART level by translating SAFe principles and intent into clear execution models, team norms, and ART working agreements that enable reliable, predictable delivery.

Partner with peer ART Coaches to align planning, cadence, and execution practices across multiple ARTs, enabling seamless delivery of shared outcomes and effective management of cross-ART dependencies.

Coach cross-ART dependency management by establishing explicit integration points, synchronization mechanisms, and clear escalation paths to ensure dependencies are visible, managed proactively, and do not become delivery blockers.

Enable Shared Services excellence by coaching Shared Services teams to operate as disciplined service providers with defined intake processes, prioritization models, capacity allocation, and service-level expectations.

Balance Shared Services dual demands by helping teams effectively support multiple Value Streams while maintaining internal operational health, continuous improvement initiatives, and roadmap commitments.

Act as a system-level coach by diagnosing systemic constraints, identifying bottlenecks, recommending pragmatic approaches, and driving decision-making when teams stall or default to local optimization.

Improve flow and predictability across the ART using practical, delivery-grounded controls such as WIP limits, dependency sequencing, Definition of Ready (DoR), Definition of Done (DoD), and integration and synchronization practices aligned to real delivery conditions.

Align Product, RTE, and team execution to ensure PI Objectives, commitments, and delivery outcomes reflect cross-ART realities, enterprise priorities, and value stream dependencies.

Qualifications & Experience

Deep experience applying SAFe at scale, particularly at the ART and multi-ART level

Proven ability to coach leaders, RTEs, Product Management, and teams through complex delivery challenges

Strong systems thinking with the ability to identify constraints and drive alignment beyond team-level optimization

Demonstrated success improving flow, predictability, and dependency management in large enterprise environments

Excellent facilitation, coaching, and influence skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
