Senior Systems Engineer / Platform Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer / Platform Engineer to design, implement, and support secure hybrid infrastructure environments spanning cloud and on-premises platforms. This role will focus on modernizing enterprise platforms, supporting containerized workloads, enhancing observability and security, and driving automation initiatives across complex infrastructure ecosystems.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in cloud platforms, Kubernetes, virtualization technologies, infrastructure automation, and enterprise monitoring solutions, with experience supporting highly regulated environments.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain hybrid infrastructure environments across cloud and on-premises data centers.
  • Manage Kubernetes platforms and container orchestration environments across multiple deployment models.
  • Lead application modernization initiatives, including migration and optimization of workloads between cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Administer and optimize virtualization platforms and hypervisor clusters supporting enterprise applications.
  • Manage enterprise logging, monitoring, and observability solutions to support operational and security requirements.
  • Implement audit logging, monitoring, and analytics capabilities across infrastructure platforms.
  • Support security engineering initiatives, including vulnerability management, compliance automation, system hardening, and risk mitigation.
  • Assist with the deployment and support of AI/ML infrastructure and cloud-native technologies.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using automation and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, operations, and security teams in an Agile environment.
  • Ensure infrastructure and platform services align with applicable security, compliance, and governance requirements.
  • Automate operational processes to improve system reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Contribute to platform architecture, technology roadmaps, and hybrid cloud strategy initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience designing and supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.
  • Strong Kubernetes administration and container platform management experience.
  • Expertise in virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere and ESXi.
  • Experience with enterprise logging, monitoring, and observability platforms such as Splunk.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks, compliance controls, and governance best practices.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation, configuration management, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms and cloud-native technologies.
  • Experience supporting application modernization and containerization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and Agile project management methodologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS or other enterprise cloud platforms.
  • Experience managing Kubernetes environments such as EKS, MKE, OpenShift, Tanzu, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, or equivalent standards.
  • Experience supporting AI/ML platforms, infrastructure, or services.
  • Experience with GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps, or similar DevOps toolchains.
  • Relevant cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKS).
  • VMware certifications or equivalent virtualization credentials.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, government, or critical infrastructure sectors.
