Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for a Technology Business Management (TBM) SME for a contract assignment with one of our premier financial services clients in Dallas, TX . This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence 3-4 days per week .
This highly visible role will serve as a senior subject matter expert supporting the Technology Business Management (TBM) Office and enterprise financial transformation initiatives within a large Global Banking & Markets technology organization. The successful candidate will partner closely with Technology Finance, Enterprise Data, Architecture, Business Management, and IBM teams to ensure the successful execution, validation, and ongoing optimization of TBM capabilities.
The position focuses on hands-on execution, analytics, validation, and continuous improvement across key technology financial management capabilities including cost transparency, cost allocation, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), unit costing, financial analytics, and management reporting. IBM will be responsible for Apptio platform configuration and development, while this role will provide functional expertise, rigorous validation, and ownership of business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and ongoing execution of Technology Business Management (TBM) capabilities including cost transparency, Bill of IT, cost allocation, unit costing, and TCO models.
- Partner with IBM delivery teams to validate cost models, execute detailed testing, and ensure outputs align to business and financial requirements.
- Execute and maintain technology cost allocation methodologies ensuring accuracy, traceability, and alignment to consumption-based costing principles.
- Perform deep data validation, reconciliation, and variance analysis across financial and operational data sources.
- Validate service taxonomies, cost drivers, cloud billing structures, and technology cost models.
- Develop and maintain management information systems (MIS), dashboards, KPIs, and reporting outputs supporting Finance and Technology stakeholders.
- Translate technology financial data into actionable insights related to cost drivers, consumption patterns, and unit economics.
- Support TCO modeling and unit cost analysis across applications, services, and technology platforms.
- Identify and implement process improvements, workflow optimizations, and automation opportunities to improve efficiency and reporting consistency.
- Maintain data governance standards including data quality checks, lineage documentation, and reconciliation processes.
- Partner across Technology, Finance, Data, and Business Management organizations to ensure successful delivery of TBM objectives.
Required Skills
- 10+ years of experience in Technology Finance, Technology Business Management (TBM), IT Financial Management, Financial Transformation, Data Analytics, or related disciplines.
- Hands-on experience supporting technology cost transparency, allocation methodologies, TCO, and unit costing initiatives.
- Strong experience performing financial data validation, reconciliation, and variance analysis across complex data environments.
- Experience working with Apptio or similar TBM platforms from a business user, validation, or functional perspective.
- Deep understanding of technology cost drivers, service taxonomy design, and cloud billing concepts.
- Strong experience developing management reporting, dashboards, and analytics solutions.
- Experience working across Technology, Finance, and Data organizations within complex, matrixed environments.
- Banking, Capital Markets, Wealth Management, or other highly regulated industry experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Administration, STEM, or related discipline.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting enterprise TBM or financial transformation initiatives.
- TBM Council certification.
- Experience with Power BI, ServiceNow, Clarity PPM, PeopleSoft, and enterprise reporting tools.
- Experience with process engineering, workflow optimization, and automation initiatives.
- FinOps certification.
- MBA or Master's degree preferred.
