Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for a Technology Business Management (TBM) Lead for a contract assignment with one of our premier financial services clients in Dallas, TX . This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence 3-4 days per week .
This highly visible role will help establish and mature the Technology Business Management (TBM) Office supporting a large Global Banking & Markets technology organization as part of a strategic technology financial transformation initiative. The successful candidate will serve as a strategic partner to Technology, Finance, Architecture, Data, and Business Management leadership while driving enterprise capabilities related to technology cost transparency, allocation methodologies, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), unit costing, and executive financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Technology Finance, Technology Business Management (TBM), Financial Transformation, and executive stakeholder management within large, complex financial services organizations. This individual will work closely with internal stakeholders and IBM, which is leading the Apptio implementation, to ensure successful business outcomes, governance, and ongoing maturation of TBM capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Establish and mature the Technology Business Management (TBM) Office, including governance frameworks, operating models, and multi-year capability roadmaps.
- Define, standardize, and govern technology cost allocation methodologies that are scalable, auditable, and aligned to business consumption.
- Drive enterprise-wide financial transformation initiatives focused on cost transparency, Bill of IT, TCO, unit costing, and technology financial management.
- Partner with IBM and internal stakeholders to guide TBM solution design, validate cost models, and ensure outputs align with business objectives.
- Establish cost ownership, accountability models, and decision rights across technology organizations.
- Deliver executive-level reporting, dashboards, KPIs, and management commentary linking technology investments to business outcomes, risk, growth, and efficiency.
- Translate complex technology cost data into actionable business insights, value narratives, and strategic recommendations.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, process improvements, automation, and enhanced financial transparency.
- Partner across Technology, Finance, Enterprise Data, Architecture, and Business Management organizations to drive alignment and successful delivery of TBM objectives.
- Influence senior stakeholders and drive consensus across matrixed organizations without direct authority.
Required Skills
- 15+ years of experience in Technology Finance, Technology Business Management (TBM), IT Financial Management, Financial Transformation, Business Management, Technology Portfolio Management, or related disciplines.
- Experience leading enterprise-wide financial transformation, cost transparency, or TBM initiatives.
- Deep expertise in technology cost allocation methodologies, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), unit costing, and financial governance.
- Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial and technology data into clear business value narratives for executive stakeholders.
- Experience working with Apptio or similar TBM platforms from a business ownership or functional perspective.
- Strong knowledge of Technology Finance, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management principles.
- Experience operating within Banking, Capital Markets, Wealth Management, or other highly regulated industries.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Administration, STEM, or related discipline.
Preferred Skills
- Experience establishing or leading a Technology Business Management (TBM) Office.
- MBA, CPA, or equivalent advanced degree/certification.
- TBM Council certification.
- Experience supporting CIO, CTO, or Enterprise Technology organizations.
- Experience with Power BI, Clarity PPM, ServiceNow, PeopleSoft, and enterprise reporting platforms.
- Lean Six Sigma and/or FinOps certification.
