Hybrid 2-3 days onsite in Bloomington, MN

Our client seeks a Data Platform Operations Engineer to deploy, maintain, and monitor Azure Data Landing Zone resources and the enterprise analytics platform. The role will automate infrastructure with Terraform and Ansible, implement CI/CD with GitHub Actions, and ensure stability, resilience, security, and compliance. The engineer will collaborate with data engineers and product teams, document processes to regulatory standards, and mentor team members to support reliable analytics and data-driven decision-making.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $60.00 to $75.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Automate the creation and maintenance of data platforms.
  • Provide primary support for implementing, upgrading, and maintaining data platform environments.
  • Implement solutions to optimize system stability, resilience, and security.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data product teams, and vendors to report and resolve problems.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards in collaboration with IS&T Security Management.
  • Debug issues, perform analysis for enhancements, and proactively maintain efficient systems.
  • Forecast and analyze capacity needs and develop tools to mitigate future capacity issues.

Experience Requirements:
  • Four-year degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or related field OR three or more years of IT experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on DevOps experience.
  • 2+ years deploying services and infrastructure in Azure public cloud.
  • 2+ years provisioning infrastructure using Terraform.
  • 2+ years with Ansible.
  • Strong knowledge of GitHub Actions.
  • Strong knowledge of data platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience performing and documenting in-depth analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Expertise in technical documentation and interpreting business documentation.
  • Strong understanding of LAN and WAN networking.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours, including weekends, with on-call participation.
  • Strong Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL or PostgreSQL (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with Liquibase (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with Azure CLI (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience configuring Azure Monitoring (preferred).
  • Experience working in an agile or scrum team (preferred).
  • Administration of Oracle or Microsoft SQL databases (preferred).
  • Azure cloud certifications (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience provisioning HIPAA-compliant cloud services (preferred).

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent IT experience.
  • Azure cloud certifications (preferred).
