Job Location: Irvine, CA


Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Application developer (with strong expertise) to join our team. Experienced with 10+ years in Applications Design, Analysis, Development Testing and Implementation on various batch and online, stored procedures for Mainframe applications development, maintenance, and troubleshooting and system performance tuning. Strong leadership skills as a technical practitioner and Business Partner in making significant contributions to OEM Automotive Industry.


The ideal candidate has a proven track record of delivering on aggressive timelines, exceeding performance expectations, and driving operational excellence in complex enterprise environments for Applications development.

You will lead and collaborate with Mainframe Applications Support for Applications development, infrastructure, QA, and operations teams to ensure stable, high-performance applications, deployments, and proactively resolve issues. You will support critical projects, enhancements, AMS incidents related to Automotive Core Domains (Sales, Operations, Vehicles Operations, & Service/Warranty, Parts).

This role requires a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving abilities, high organization, attention to detail, leadership communicating & collaborating with business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, creativity, resourcefulness, and adaptability to evolving priorities and technologies.

Strong skill set in Customer Satisfaction and Expectation Management. Positive Relationship development & manage customer dynamics. Develop and maintain close communication with Client and all other internal and vendor teams. Support and align efforts to meet customer and business needs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provides hands on experience and manages Mainframe Applications Maintenance Service   SNOW incidents , on a timely basis with a high quality.
    • Responsible to work on and implement 35-40% of incidents assigned to Core Business area domain.
    • Effective AMS execution with 0 SLA breach max 5% in respective group/assignment.
    • Aging: No single incident >30 days.
    • No breach for P1 and P2 incidents.
    • Availability for P1 critical incidents to be worked on immediately.
    • P3 & P4 incidents completed in 2 to 5 days, improve Resolution turnaround time at 5%.
    • Availability for On Call Support 7:30 AM-7:30 PM, PST for your assigned Business area domain.
    • Initiate and Implement Proactive Problem Management solutions.
    • ITCAM Alert Initiative actively participate & contribute by identifying specific/problematic issues, research and provide PPMs & New solutions. Responsible to develop, test, and deploy new solutions.
    • Initiate and provide Knowledge Repository & Documentation, and Enhancements (Documentation AMS minimum 4 annually (1 per quarter).
    • No Production deployment failures from your respective domain area.
    • Avoid delays/ wait time for customer responses on business/operational issues.
    • Close coordination and communication with offshore AMS Managers and leads across the group, ensuring that delivery is high quality and on/before schedule.
    • Provide effective and timely resolution for all requests/queries from the team on daily basis.
    • Get timely and formal customer sign off/approvals for all deliverables/assignments.
  • Manage and address critical P1, P2 issues and addresses them immediately related to Mainframe AMS incidents.
  • Lead, develop and maintain Mainframe applications support (Incident reporting, Change requests, Prod IDs).
  • Knowledge of processing large sets of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data supporting systems application architecture.
  • Knowledgeable of application methodology development and life cycle and Software Engineering principles.
  • Able to assess business rules, collaborate with stakeholders and perform source to target data mapping, design and review.
  • Experience in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS).
  • Excellent knowledge in creating databases, tables, stored procedures, DDL/DML Triggers, Views, User defined data types, functions Cursors and Indexes using T-SQL.
  • Experience in data conversion and data migration using SSIS and DTS services across different databases like Oracle, and flat files.
  • Provide production support for mainframe applications and other technological applications troubleshooting system issues, analyzing logs, and ensuring minimal downtime using monitoring tools.
  • Develop and optimize SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, DB2, UDB), integrating them with Java applications for efficient data retrieval and storage.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and optimize existing application workflows.
  • Facilitate the transition from requirements to execution by spearheading project plan creation and maintaining comprehensive documentation throughout the implementation phase.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including architects and developers, to design, deploy, and maintain enterprise-level web applications and services.
  • Support Annual Disaster Recovery coordination with AMS offshore team validation of applications.
  • Presales & Analysis Create and bring Value Add to improving business processes, efficiency and automated business solutions. Provide excellence through scope documentation, and detailed estimation reviews to ensure project viability.
  • Evaluate and provide estimate work packages for AMS enhancements, tasks, projects by working with Project Mgrs offshore.
  • Lead by example, blending technical expertise and providing transparent communication to drive digital transformation projects.
  
Required Skills & Technologies (Strong Match to Profile)
  • Automotive Domain Expertise: Work closely with data systems and gain deep expertise in the automotive industry. Contribute to the development and optimization of systems supporting OEM systems and associated technologies.
  • Mainframe Development: Lead and hands on experience with the development and maintenance of mainframe-based applications.
  • Design and Develop   Cobol programs   Batch & Online (CICS), RPC s Stored Procedures.
  • Unit and System testing - of newly developed/changed components.
  • Create reports - against Z/OS DB2, IBM UDB and MS SQL Server databases based on the user requirements.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Design application to generate daily monitoring reports, tracking file ingestion status and scheduling data lake runs.
  • SQL & Data Querying: Experience in SQL queries for data analysis and reporting, using Java for integration and automation in processing datasets and generating insights.
  • Integration Management: mainframe applications interaction with 3rd party systems using API Integration (MuleSoft, other).
  • Code Integration & Version Control: Utilize Git for version control, ensuring effective branching, merging, and code reviews. Actively contributed to the maintenance of Java applications through integration and unit testing.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Business users and stakeholders along with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical /business solutions using Java, ensuring alignment with project objectives and business goals.
  • Support & Optimization: Provide 24x7 ongoing production support for mainframe applications, optimizing system performance and ensuring seamless operation of dealer-facing tools and internal applications.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Lead efforts in unit testing, integration testing, and code review processes. Ensured that mainframe applications and system features are fully functional, scalable, and performant.
  • Global Team Orchestration: Manage close daily coordination with offshore teams and managers to prioritize tasks, resolve technical queries rapidly, and ensure high-quality delivery across different time zones.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the primary communication hub for all Business stakeholders, project parties, AMS teams (Apps/Infra offshore/onshore) ensuring seamless alignment and transparency regarding business changes and project status.
