Description Position SummaryA leading financial services organization is seeking an Enterprise Payments Solution Architect with deep expertise in Wires to drive end-to-end solution design, architecture governance, and technology direction for major payment initiatives. This role translates business and operational needs into secure, scalable, and maintainable technology architectures across multiple platforms and integrations.
The architect will work closely with business partners, operations teams, product owners, engineering, infrastructure, and enterprise architecture to ensure solutions align with long-term strategic goals, modernization efforts, and enterprise standards. This role requires strong leadership, the ability to take charge, and comfort operating in a fast-paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesSolution Architecture & Design- Develop high-level architecture and end-to-end solution designs aligned to enterprise standards and target-state vision.
- Translate business requirements into technical architectures spanning apps, interfaces, integrations, data flows, and platforms.
- Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements: performance, resiliency, scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Provide solutioning leadership for initiatives beyond Wires when required.
Architecture Governance- Present and defend solution designs in architecture review and governance forums.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture patterns, standards, and governance practices.
- Identify technical risks, constraints, and technical debt; recommend remediation plans.
Cross-Functional Leadership- Lead meetings with IT groups, business partners, and operations stakeholders.
- Guide engineering teams through detailed design to ensure alignment with architectural direction.
- Resolve cross-domain and cross-platform engineering challenges.
- Take ownership in complex or ambiguous situations-comfortable taking charge.
Roadmaps & Continuous Improvement- Maintain solution and domain roadmaps, supporting modernization and future-state evolution.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, integration patterns, and architectural trends.
- Promote reuse of standards, frameworks, and best practices across delivery teams.
Requirements Required Skills & Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience across multiple IT disciplines, including at least two of the following:
- Solution or Application Architecture
- Application Development
- Middleware / Integration
- Database Engineering / Operations
- Infrastructure / Platform Technologies
- Experience working in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of Wires is required.
- Understanding of ecosystem interfaces and upstream/downstream integrations impacted by Wires.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with integration patterns (API, batch, event-driven, messaging).
- ACI MTS experience is a plus.
- Experience collaborating across business, product, engineering, and infrastructure teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain architecture decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
