Summary

JOB SUMMARY: The L2 Application Support Engineer is responsible for providing real-time support for Market Data systems in a fast-paced investment banking environment. This role involves troubleshooting, incident management, and ensuring high availability of critical systems while acting as a key interface between users, IT teams, and external vendors. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Application & Production Support Provide Level 2 support for real-time Market Data applications Troubleshoot and resolve issues with minimal escalation to L3 Monitor system performance and ensure high availability Incident & Queue Management Act as the primary interface for all service requests and issues Manage operational call queues and meet SLA requirements Handle multiple incidents simultaneously with strong ownership Technical Troubleshooting Perform root cause analysis and issue resolution Use Unix/Linux tools (netstat, mpstat, grep, awk) for diagnostics Support network and messaging technologies (TCP/IP, UDP, Multicast, SNMP) Collaboration & Vendor Management Work closely with internal teams and external vendors Maintain strong communication and stakeholder updates Provide technical support for vendor systems Documentation & Process Improvement Create and maintain runbooks and technical documentation Define escalation paths and operational procedures Contribute to best practices and continuous improvement REQUIRED SKILLS: Strong Unix/Linux knowledge Shell scripting (mandatory), Perl is a plus Good understanding of networking concepts Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills Excellent communication and multitasking ability PREFERRED SKILLS: Knowledge of Refinitiv (Reuters), Exegy Programming knowledge in Python / Perl SQL knowledge EXPERIENCE: 3+ years in L2/L3 Application Support role 2+ years working with Unix/Linux systems Ideal overall range: 36 years EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (preferred) Education: Bachelors Degree
