Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Chicago, IL that is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a collaborative and growing Buildings Engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and contribute to complex building design projects while working alongside architects, engineers, project managers, and other design professionals.

Overview:
The ideal candidate is a technically strong, client-focused engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges, mentoring junior team members, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions. This position will be responsible for electrical system design, project coordination, construction documentation, client engagement, quality reviews, and technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include preparing engineering reports, plans, specifications, and construction documents; collaborating with multidisciplinary teams; supporting business development efforts; conducting field observations and construction administration activities; mentoring junior staff; and assisting with project planning, staffing, scheduling, and budget management.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
* Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing
* 7+ years of electrical engineering experience within the buildings industry
* Experience designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, federal, or large-scale building projects
* Strong knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local building codes and design standards
* Experience producing construction documents, specifications, and engineering reports
* Proficiency with industry-standard design and production software
* Ability to lead technical discussions and resolve complex engineering challenges
* Experience mentoring and reviewing the work of junior engineers and designers
* Strong communication, client-facing, and relationship-building skills
* Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams
* Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
