Computer Operator

TEKsystems client in Rochester, NY is hiring a Computer Operator on a contract to hire basis! On a nightly basis, this candidate will be responsible for data center operations on site in Rochester, NY location. They will be involved with managing the monitoring schedule of the Data Center, ensuring batch streams are running on time, reporting errors to programming support when needed, monitoring the environmental (heating/cooling of the data center), providing morning status reports, and doing shift turnover. They don't need a ton of prior experience doing this, as they will be taught and trained on these fundamentals and have tools provided to help them do so. Shifts are as follows on an alternating weekly schedule...
Week 1: 9.5 Hours
Week 2: 12.5 Hours
The shifts are generally either 12 hours starting at 9p, or 9.5 hours starting at either 9p or midnight.
Schedule includes working every other Fri/Sat/Sun, and holidays as schedule dictates.
Week 1: 10 Hours (Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Week 2: 12.5 Hours(Monday, Tuesday, Friday)
Key Responsibilities

• Monitor data center systems, alerts, and environmental conditions
• Perform basic hardware tasks such as server reboots, cable management, and equipment installation
• Follow standard operating procedures for incident response and escalation
• Maintain accurate documentation and ticket updates
• Support security protocols and access controls
• Work cooperatively with IT teams and vendors as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical coursework or certifications a plus
• Basic understanding of computer hardware and IT concepts
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Ability to work shifts, including nights or weekends if required
• Physical ability to lift equipment and work in a data center environment

Skills
Support, customer service, hardware, troubleshooting, data center, administrative support, A+ certification, Associates/Bachelors degree in IT.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
