Epic Certified Beaker (Lab) Analyst – Job Description

Work Authorization: Open to candidates with any visa status (must be authorized to work in the U.S.)

An Epic Certified Lab Analyst specializes in the implementation, configuration, and support of laboratory workflows within the Epic Systems EHR, primarily using the Beaker module (LIS).

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Epic Beaker (Lab) module for clinical and anatomic pathology workflows
• Configure lab workflows including specimen collection, accessioning, testing, and result reporting
• Integrate Epic Beaker with lab instruments, middleware, and external systems (HL7 interfaces)
• Collaborate with lab staff, pathologists, and clinicians to gather and translate requirements
• Support test catalog build, reference ranges, result components, and order sets
• Perform system testing (unit, integration, UAT) and support go-live activities
• Troubleshoot lab system issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure quick resolution
• Ensure compliance with healthcare and laboratory standards (CLIA, CAP, HIPAA)
• Maintain documentation, workflows, and provide end-user training
• Support upgrades, enhancements, and ongoing production support

Required Skills

• Epic Certification in Beaker (CP/AP) (mandatory)
• Strong understanding of laboratory workflows (clinical pathology/anatomic pathology)
• Experience with LIS systems, lab instruments, and HL7 interfaces
• Knowledge of reference labs, specimen tracking, and result validation
• SQL/reporting knowledge (preferred)
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Healthcare, Life Sciences, or related field
• 5 years of experience in Epic Beaker or Lab Information Systems
• Experience in at least one full-cycle Epic implementation (preferred)
• Background in laboratory operations or healthcare IT is a strong advantage

Nice to Have

• Experience with Beaker CP (Clinical Pathology) and/or Beaker AP (Anatomic Pathology)
• Interface engine experience (e.g., Cloverleaf, Rhapsody)
• Familiarity with lab regulations and accreditation standards
