About the Role
The purpose of this team is to deliver and maintain the full software stack for Surface devices, including firmware, drivers, and operating system components, while debugging and resolving OS and driver-level issues.
What This Engineer Will Do
Develop, test, and sustain Windows kernel-mode and user-mode drivers and system services
Debug complex hardware / firmware / OS interactions
Drive quality, validation, and release readiness (HLK, LKG, PST)
Add telemetry and diagnostics to enable fast, remote issue resolution
Collaborate with hardware, firmware, IHVs, and internal Windows teams
Highly Desired Experience
HLK / driver signing / release pipelines
Telemetry, diagnostics, or automation tooling
Secure driver or system design practices
Device bring-up or early hardware validation
What Success Looks Like (First 3-6 Months)
Ships or sustains drivers that meet LKG and PST targets
Resolves complex system bugs with minimal escalation
Improves observability or automation for system health
Operates independently within SHINE sprint and RoB processes
