Summary

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Cloud Engineer for a FULL TIME assignment with one of our premier Investment Firms clients in New York City, NY . Hybrid schedule 3 days onsite - T/W/TH

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Platform Engineer to join our Systems team and help design, build, and operate the firm's hybrid cloud computing infrastructure. This role will work directly with technologists across the organization to identify high-impact opportunities, rapidly move solutions from experimentation into production, and improve the reliability, scalability, and usability of the firm's cloud capabilities.

The ideal candidate has strong production infrastructure experience, hands-on expertise with Linux and at least one major cloud platform, and a practical approach to automation and infrastructure as code. This engineer will play an important role in expanding hybrid grid computing capabilities, supporting cloud adoption, and ensuring cloud platforms are secure, observable, and reliable.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operate hybrid grid computing infrastructure that can burst compute workloads into AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure .
  • Support the reliability, scalability, and performance of Linux-based compute platforms and the networking infrastructure that connects them.
  • Develop tooling, automation, and infrastructure-as-code solutions that simplify and standardize how the firm uses cloud capabilities.
  • Build and maintain cloud platform observability , monitoring system health, performance, and reliability.
  • Participate in a cloud operations escalation rotation , taking ownership of incidents from initial triage through root-cause analysis and remediation.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure and network issues across both public internet connectivity and private cloud links.
  • Partner with technology teams across the firm to identify high-impact opportunities for cloud adoption and recommend solutions aligned with their technical and business needs.
  • Move cloud initiatives from experimentation and proof of concept through production delivery and ongoing operations.
  • Apply security fundamentals throughout the design and implementation of cloud infrastructure, building systems that are secure by default.
  • Independently drive infrastructure initiatives while collaborating effectively with engineering and technology stakeholders across the organization.
Required Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, software engineering, or a related discipline supporting production systems.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, including AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure .
  • Strong hands-on Linux experience operating and troubleshooting production environments.
  • Experience working with hybrid infrastructure and troubleshooting network traffic across public internet and private connectivity.
  • Experience with modern infrastructure-as-code and development practices, including tools such as Terraform .
  • Experience developing automation or engineering tools using one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, or Rust .
  • Strong understanding of cloud and infrastructure security fundamentals .
  • Experience supporting production systems with an emphasis on reliability, performance, monitoring, and operational excellence.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and drive technical initiatives from concept through delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating multi-cloud environments across AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and/or Azure.
  • Experience with grid computing, distributed computing, high-performance computing, or large-scale compute infrastructure .
  • Experience building cloud bursting capabilities or integrating on-premises compute environments with public cloud platforms.
  • Experience developing internal platforms or tooling that enable engineering teams to consume cloud services more consistently.
  • Experience with cloud observability, incident management, and production operations.
  • Strong understanding of network architecture, private connectivity, and cloud networking.
  • Experience applying security-by-design principles to cloud infrastructure and automation.
