Position: Sr. Storage Engineer
Length: Contract to Direct Hire
Location: Onsite in Dallas/Tampa/Jersey City Office 3x a week Hourly Rate: 80-85/hr.
Salary Range: 165-180k Base 10-18% Bonus
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Storage Engineer with master-level expertise in Dell EMC PowerMax and SRDF Star (concurrent replication). This is a critical, specialized engineering role responsible for supporting a large-scale, high-availability storage environment within a highly regulated financial services context. Only candidates with direct, hands-on SRDF Star experience will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level operational support for PowerMax storage arrays, including troubleshooting, remediation, storage provisioning, reclamation, zoning, and replication tasks.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for SRDF Star concurrent replication, including configuration, operational management, and support during disaster recovery tests.
- Perform day-to-day storage operations across Vblock environments, including PowerMax array management and Cisco/Brocade switch administration.
- Support and maintain the Vblock architecture, including PowerMax arrays, Cisco UCS chassis, and Cisco top-of-rack switching.
- Work with management tools such as AMP clusters and Secure Connect gateway virtual appliances.
- Operate within a tightly controlled change management framework, preparing and executing changes with precision to ensure adherence to all governance and audit requirements.
- Participate fully in on-call rotations, daily meetings, and ad hoc issue response.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills:- Master-level, hands-on experience with SRDF Star (concurrent replication). This is non-negotiable.
- Deep expertise with Dell EMC PowerMax storage systems.
- Strong experience administering Brocade switches, Cisco switches and zoning, and Vblock components and architecture.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, Linux OS, and VMware virtualization.
- Familiarity with managing AMP clusters and Secure Connect gateways.
Professional Competencies:- Ability to operate independently in a high-pressure environment.
- Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable with irregular scheduling.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical teams and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, or Python.
- Background in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with converged infrastructure concepts beyond Vblock.
Work Schedule
Significant schedule flexibility is required. The team frequently works non-standard schedules, including Tuesday through Saturday, and at times 6-7 days per week to support operational demands. Participation in an on-call rotation is required.
Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated pay range for this position is $80.00 to $92.00 per hour on a W2 basis. The permanent salary conversion range is anticipated to be between $165,000 and $180,000 annually, plus a potential bonus. Please note that the final pay rate will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location. This position is not open to C2C or third-party vendors.
