Job Overview:
The Scrum Master III serves as a facilitator and Agile coach for up to two development teams. This role provides leadership by helping Agile teams adhere to the rules of Scrum, applying the practices and principles of SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise), and working within and outside the team to remove impediments. The Scrum Master III fosters an environment of transparency and continuous improvement by proactively communicating with the team, management, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Focus the Agile team on delivering planned value.
  • Ensure teams achieve their objectives by reinforcing SAFe framework and Scrum principles, facilitating all standard ceremonies.
  • Guide the team and organization on Agile/Scrum practices and values.
  • Coach the team on self-organization and filling intentional gaps in Agile/Scrum frameworks.
  • Assess Scrum maturity and coach the team to higher levels of maturity at a sustainable pace.
  • Facilitate the completion of work and address impediments beyond the team's authority.
  • Build an environment of continuous improvement and encourage healthy intra-team dynamics.
  • Facilitate discussions, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
  • Coordinate with other teams, DevOps, System Teams, Shared Services, and other Scrum Masters.
  • Support and educate the Product Owner, especially regarding product backlog maintenance.
  • Guide the team through estimating and forecasting.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Six (6) years of relevant business/development support, user story creation, writing, and estimation.
  • Experience with Agile and/or Scrum methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
Certifications/Licensures:
  • First Level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I, and/or SAFe Practitioner certification).
Preferences:
  • Six (6) years of Project Management experience, preferably in Information Technology.
  • Extensive Agile and/or Scrum experience.
  • Second Level Scrum Master certification (CSP, PSM II, and/or SAFe Advanced Scrum Master certification).
  • Experience as a Scrum Master for six (6) years, diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches such as XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.
  • Experience with Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
  • Working knowledge of SAFe.
  • Experience as a Team Leader and in coaching, training, or developing teams.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong skills in servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • Knowledge of well-documented patterns and techniques for filling gaps in Scrum (e.g., Burndown techniques, Retrospective formats, handling bugs).
  • Strong collaboration, facilitation, and conflict management skills.
