Position Overview
United Airlines is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager Cyber Security to lead and manage enterprise cybersecurity initiatives, technology strategies, and security-focused projects. The ideal candidate will have strong project management expertise, cybersecurity domain experience, airline/aviation industry experience, and relevant professional certifications.
This role requires the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, manage complex technology implementations, drive security improvements, and ensure alignment with organizational goals, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in IT Project Management, Cybersecurity Project Management, or Information Security Program Management.
- Proven experience managing cybersecurity, information technology, or infrastructure-related projects.
- Airline/Aviation industry experience required.
- Relevant cybersecurity or project management certifications required, such as:
- PMP
- CISSP
- CISM
- Security+
- Other recognized cybersecurity certifications
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, controls, governance, and risk management.
- Experience managing enterprise-level technology projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and execute strategic plans for implementing information technology and cybersecurity solutions.
- Lead cybersecurity projects by defining scope, timelines, resources, milestones, and deliverables.
- Coordinate project activities across business teams, IT teams, security teams, vendors, and data center resources.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, security solutions, and industry best practices.
- Conduct project reviews, system audits, and validation activities to ensure successful implementation.
- Support disaster recovery, backup strategies, and information security control frameworks.
- Recommend cybersecurity strategies, policies, procedures, and improvements based on business needs and technology trends.
- Identify risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and resource planning.
- Ensure quality standards are established and maintained across technology initiatives.
- Maintain current knowledge of cybersecurity trends, tools, methodologies, and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with teams to achieve organizational security and technology objectives.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in large enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of airline, transportation, or highly regulated industries.
- Experience with security governance, compliance, risk management, and audit processes.
- Strong background in IT infrastructure, cloud, networking, or security technologies.
