Help Desk Technician Salt Lake City, Utah Contract to Hire $23 to $26 per hour contract with a conversion salary of $50K to $55K annually + bonus Summary We are seeking a hands-on Help Desk Analyst to join a growing internal IT team during a critical transition from third-party support to in-house operations. This is a foundational role supporting employees at all levels, including executives, and requires strong technical skills, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
This role is ideal for someone with real-world help desk experience who can hit the ground running and help establish best practices as the team scales.
Responsibilities - Provide day-to-day technical support for end users across hardware, software, and SaaS platforms
- Manage and resolve tickets through a centralized ticketing system, meeting SLA expectations
- Support Microsoft 365 environments, including user provisioning, access management, and troubleshooting
- Assist with device management using Intune and Autopilot
- Troubleshoot Windows operating systems, applications, and peripheral devices
- Deliver high-quality, professional support to employees at all levels of the organization
- Document processes, solutions, and common issues to support long-term scalability
- Collaborate closely with the Systems Administrator and broader IT team
- Serve as a foundational member of a growing IT organization, contributing to process improvement and team growth
Requirements - 1-2 years of actual Help Desk or Service Desk experience (not entry-level or purely academic)
- Experience working with ticketing systems (Jira preferred, others acceptable)
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft 365, Intune, and Autopilot
- Certifications - CompTIA A+ certification (preferred)
- Solid Windows troubleshooting experience
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills
- Comfortable working independently in a small, developing IT team
- Ability to ramp up quickly with minimal supervision
- Professional demeanor with the ability to support executive-level users
Bonus Skills - CompTIA Security+ or Network+
- Basic Linux exposure
- Prior experience supporting a growing or newly internalized IT function
- Demonstrated leadership aptitude or informal mentoring experience
