Position Status: 9-Month Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: $55 70/hr
Conversion Salary: $110,000 180,545

Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Manager of Application and Data Services to lead and oversee strategic banking applications in a hybrid work environment in Richmond, VA. This role is accountable for managing core banking systems, consumer and commercial online banking, digital platforms, wire systems, and treasury services.

The ideal candidate will partner with operations and business teams to drive operational efficiencies, oversee system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and conversions, and manage key vendor relationships. This is a high-impact position for an accomplished professional with deep banking technology expertise and proven leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all core banking systems, including online banking, digital, wire, and treasury platforms

  • Oversee change configurations, system upgrades, integrations, and conversions

  • Develop and maintain deep expertise in assigned applications

  • Plan, assign, and monitor technical resources for application development and maintenance

  • Deliver projects and system enhancements on schedule and within specifications

  • Collaborate with project management, business analysts, and QA teams to build effective application roadmaps

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team

  • Create cross-training opportunities and foster a collaborative team environment

  • Manage day-to-day production support activities (BAU) and coordinate with vendors and business units

  • Define, monitor, analyze, and improve application SLAs and KPIs

  • Strategically use data to drive continuous improvement in operational performance

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to standardize and improve business processes

  • Communicate process changes and system enhancements effectively across all organizational levels

  • Prepare and present reports, recommendations, and alternatives to improve system operations

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8+ years managing banking application or IT teams

  • Experience with core banking systems, digital banking, online banking, wire, and treasury platforms

  • Strong background in banking or financial services enterprise applications

  • Experience with system implementations, integrations, upgrades, and conversions

  • Vendor management experience with banking technology providers

  • Process improvement and data analysis skills (Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or similar)

  • Strong leadership and cross-department collaboration with business and operations teams

  • Undergraduate degree in a business or technology-related discipline (Graduate degree preferred)

  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills

  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex data sets to support decision-making

Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated success in driving operational efficiency and automation in banking systems

  • Experience with large-scale project delivery and IT strategy alignment

  • Advanced customer service focus and commitment to exceeding expectations
