Cloud & Business Application Systems Engineer
A self-clearing Broker-Dealer based on Wall Street is seeking an experienced Cloud & Business Application Systems Engineer to support and align our cloud infrastructure with our critical trading and clearing systems. This multifaceted role bridges the gap between infrastructure and business applications, helping to design, implement, and support cloud services (Azure and AWS) that directly integrate high-performance trading operations, OMS platforms, FIX connectivity, and back-office systems.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with cloud technologies as well as domain knowledge of financial systems, including modern application development frameworks, order management systems (OMS), FIX protocol, trading APIs, and clearing platforms. You ll work closely with the CTIO, MSPs, and business stakeholders to ensure that our infrastructure meets the operational and compliance demands of a broker-dealer environment. Industry knowledge is a must.
Key Responsibilities
Report directly to the CTIO and collaborate with trading, operations, and compliance to deliver technology solutions that drive the business.
Design, build and maintain internal applications and APIs that support operational workflows, risk management, client reporting, and data analysis.
Build and support internally developed applications and dashboards (Python/React/Flask/Power BI) that streamline business workflows.
Build and maintain relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) for internal applications and analytics.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for internal apps and integration projects.
Architect, implement, and support cloud infrastructure to support trading, backoffice and clearing systems.
Work directly with business application teams to ensure infrastructure is optimized for OMS, FIX gateways, APIs, and back-office platforms.
Maintain and support virtualized co-location servers used for clearing connectivity and market access.
Co-manage virtualized co-location servers used for clearing connectivity and market access.
Partner with MSPs to maintain desktop infrastructure, endpoint security, and user support.
Administer Microsoft 365, Azure AD (Entra ID), and identity management tools.
Ensure compliance with SEC/FINRA regulations around IT infrastructure and data governance.
Configure and support email security, MDM, firewalls, and VPNs.
Develop automation scripts (Python, PowerShell) for system health monitoring and business workflows.
Assist with application upgrades and vendor coordination for financial applications.
Preferred Experience
Hands-on expertise with Azure and AWS cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, Python/React app development, databases (PostgreSQL/SQL Server), and automation combined with financial systems knowledge (OMS, FIX protocol, trading APIs, clearing/back-office platforms) and familiarity with broker-dealer regulatory requirements (SEC/FINRA).
Preferred Certifications
Azure/AWS Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, Security+ or CISSP/CCSP, Terraform/Kubernetes certifications, and optionally FINRA Series 99 or equivalent financial operations credentials.
