Project Scope:

• This 12-month contract position is with The Clemson University Information Technology Center, with potential for extension.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Manages systems software.
• Provides technical support in developing, maintaining, installing, and using operating systems and subsystems for mission-critical systems.
• Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to create, install, and maintain system software on mission-critical systems (40% of time).
• Tunes systems for optimal performance, tracks system capacity, and ensures system stability.
• Collaborates and liaises with other units, serving as a technical resource and SME (35% of time).
• Contributes to research and development projects as required (15% of time).
• Trains and advises less skilled systems programmers and provides expert technical assistance to others (10% of time).

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience with Linux/UNIX
• 3+ years of experience in a highly regulated Health Care environment (HIPAA)
• 3+ years of Scripting and Automation experience
• 3+ years of experience working in a mixed Linux and Windows environment within a VMWare or other cloud-based enterprise environment

Preferred Skills:

• RedHat based Linux
• SaltStack (or other configuration management software such as Ansible or Puppet)
• GIT
• Splunk/Elasticsearch or similar Logging Technologies
• Software-Defined Networks

Required Education:

• High School Diploma and experience with enterprise Linux systems.

Preferred Certifications:

• RHCT, RHCE, or similar Linux certifications.
