Entry-Level Data Center Technician

Overview

We are seeking an Entry-Level Data Center Technician to join our growing operations team. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about technology, eager to learn, and ready to begin a long-term career in the data center and IT infrastructure field. No prior data center experience is required-just a strong work ethic, basic technical aptitude, and a willingness to grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Support daily data center operations, including server handling, hardware installations, and basic troubleshooting.
• Perform cable routing, labeling, and organization (fiber and copper).
• Conduct routine inspections of racks, equipment, and environmental systems.
• Assist with server builds, hardware swaps, and component replacements under guidance.
• Follow established procedures for ticketing, documentation, and inventory tracking.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and secure working environment.
• Respond to on-site issues and support lead technicians as needed.
• Adhere to data center access, security, and compliance protocols.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Interest in IT, networking, or data center operations.
• Basic understanding of computers, hardware components, or cabling.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow standard procedures.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work with limited supervision.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills

(Not required-training provided)

• Familiarity with Linux or Windows OS
• Understanding of basic networking (IP addressing, patch panels)
• Experience with hand tools or cable management
• Any entry-level IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, etc.)

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Lenoir, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
