Job Description

NW Natural is seeking an experienced Senior SCADA Project Manager to lead the implementation of a new SCADA platform and manage the transition from legacy systems. This role will oversee the full project lifecycle, ensuring system reliability, operational continuity, regulatory compliance, and cybersecurity alignment. The ideal candidate is a technically strong project leader with experience managing large-scale SCADA or industrial control system implementations within utility or infrastructure environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end SCADA platform implementation, managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality.
• Develop and execute migration and cutover strategies to transition from legacy systems while ensuring uninterrupted operations.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, IT, OT, cybersecurity, vendors, and operations.
• Manage system transition activities including data migration, interface mapping, point verification, and continuity planning.
• Drive project governance, including status reporting, risk management, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication.
• Oversee integration with PLCs, RTUs, historians, alarm systems, and other OT components.
• Lead validation phases including FAT, SAT, redundancy testing, failover verification, and UAT.
• Support system design, network architecture considerations, and compliance requirements.
• Manage vendor deliverables, performance, and milestone adherence.
• Ensure successful commissioning, operational readiness, training, and post-deployment stabilization.
• Oversee documentation, knowledge transfer, and transition to ongoing support teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of project management experience in industrial automation, utilities, infrastructure, or manufacturing environments.
• Proven experience managing SCADA, DCS, or Industrial Control System implementations or upgrades.
• Strong expertise in system migration, cutover planning, and operational continuity.
• Solid understanding of SCADA architecture, OT/ICS environments, networking, and high-availability systems.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles in operational technology environments.
• Experience managing vendors, integrators, and technical partners.
• Strong risk management, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
• PMP, Agile, or similar project management certification preferred.
• Direct SCADA project experience is required.
